I am a licensed, clinical and school psychologist and a trained social cognitive specialist. These areas of expertise provide a comprehensive foundation for the diagnostic, therapeutic and consultation services that I offer in my clinic.
I specialize in working with individuals and their families who are impacted by developmental disorders of social functioning. Autism spectrum, Asperger Syndrome, pervasive developmental, attention-deficit (ADHD) and nonverbal learning (NVLD) disorders are all considered developmental disorders of social functioning. These and other neuro-biological differences often require specialized assessments, treatments and supports.
After completing graduate training programs in Austin and San Antonio, TX, I maintained an independent psychology practice specializing in childhood emotional and behavioral disorders for almost 10 years. I also taught several courses in child development and educational psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. Most recently, I have completed extensive training in the disorders of social functioning. I enjoy working with children and their families. Positive change happens when people focus on individual talents and strengths as well as weaknesses.
I am the mother of two teenage girls. One of my daughters has a developmental social disorder. I have learned a great deal as the mother of a special needs child and adolescent. I use these experiences to inform and enrich my work with others. My hobbies include dogs, hiking, films and reading.
